The Jírovice club
For centuries, the Jírovice estate near the Konopiště château was owned by the Šebora family. They owned a thriving mill, fields, forests and also a small brickworks. An integral part of the farm and the daily toil was always at least one horse. Like with many other families, post-WWII history toyed mercilessly with the Šebora family and they weren’t given back their property until after dozens of sorrowful years.
That’s when we first came across this beautiful farm. It was love at first sight, exactly what we’d dreamed about. There were many potential buyers, but the “horse charm” worked. When we told the owner that we wanted to build a riding club there, she chose us. We got the chance to follow up on a tradition of honest work going back to the 14 centuries. We believe that we have used it well, which is proven by the former owner’s annual visits and the satisfied look on her face when she contemplates the well functioning club. Ms Ingeborg Šeborová, we thank you immensely for everything.
Hand in hand with nature
In 2011, a modern riding club was built in Jírovice, covering almost 20 acres. Hanka and Tomáš applied their many years of experience with the horse world to designing and building it. It was very important for us to treat the surrounding nature and historical premises with great sensitivity. We take pride in providing practicality and maximum comfort for horses, their owners and riders. We have 24 boxes for our horses and those of our clients. Although “client” may not be the right word – we are more like long term partners and friends.
The stable opens into an indoor arena, which is 20 x 60 metres large. One wall of the arena offers an uninhibited view of the countryside, allowing us to relish scenery straight out of Monet’s Nymphéas in fresh air all year round. Our pond, which powered the local mill in the 14th century, produces a plethora of sounds: croaking frogs, loud ducks and herons, and sometimes a carp which splashes in the water. This enables our horses to get used to various noises right from the start of their training, which helps in competitions.
Right next to the arena is a horse walker for six horses, an outside arena and paddocks. One of them is almost 5 acres large, bordered by streams which form natural barriers.
We take pride in being a family business. This is our home and we want it to be the same for our colleagues and horse owners. We show humility and respect not only to our four-legged friends, but to everyone who enters through the main gate.
